Our School Zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
Foundation (Prep) enrolments | 2026
The Department of Education has released the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2026 school year.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Milgate Primary School.
All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2025 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2026 school year.

What you need to do:
You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Milgate primary School from 22 April 2025.
- Use Find my School to locate your designated neighbourhood school (referred to as your local school) and other nearby government schools.
- Book a school tour here or contact our school at milgate.ps@education.vic.gov.au to learn more about our school.
- Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by 22 April 2025). This pack includes an application form, which you can also request from our school, however we prefer digital applications – see next step.
- Submit an enrolment application using the link below for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 25 July 2025.
- You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August 2025. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025.
- Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025.
- Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after the closing date will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
If applying for Foundation (Prep) 2026, applications open on VicStudents from 22 April 2025.

Foundation Transition Programs
Discovery
Discovery Come and discover what makes Milgate so great! Children participate in a fun learning activity with our Foundation teachers, while parents can enjoy a chat with our Principal or Assistant Principal or just meet other parents.
Our Discovery sessions are held in May each year – Bookings are closed as sessions have finished for this year
Storytime
Storytime Storytime sessions will enthral your child with our wonderful storybooks and activities. Children participate in stories and fun learning activities with our Library staff.
Our Storytime sessions are held in August and are open to students eligible to start school in 2026. For more information and to make a booking, please click here
Transition
Transition 4 weekly transition sessions are held in November for students enrolled to attend Milgate next year. There is no need to book, and we will send more information early in Term 4.
Enrolments in Years 1-6
Transferring From Another Australian School
We warmly welcome students and families from around Australia at Milgate PS. We invite you to contact us directly via telephone or email. Parents with students transferring from another School within Australia will need to notify their current school of their intention to transfer. Please check with your current school’s Office staff as to whether they require this in writing.
Age requirements for enrolment into a Victorian school may vary from interstate schools so students may be placed into a different Year Level from their current studies. In Victoria this is guided by age to ensure they are with other students of a similar age group for both academic and social integration.

Book a Tour
School Tours are available from late February/March each year. Please use the booking link below to book your tour.
Starting school is an exciting time for you and your child. Choosing a school that upholds your family values, has high academic expectations, offers creative and sporting opportunities and provides a caring and supportive environment is important to all parents.
At Milgate PS we take pride in providing a caring and dynamic environment that places your child at the centre of the learning experience. We aim to develop students who are principled, caring and ambitious to learn.
We like to allow 30 minutes for your tour to show you our classrooms, talk to you about our curriculum, explain to you how Milgate is unique in the way we teach our students and answer any questions you may have.
If your child is eligible to start school in 2026 (will turn 5 by April 30, 2026), please use the link below to book your school tour with our School Leaders, our Principal Kate Mancarella or Assistant Principals David Mander and Jayde Williams (bookings open in March each year). We also offer tours for families with students already attending primary schools if you are moving into our area and looking at transferring schools.
If your child is not eligible to start school next year, please come along to our Open Day, usually held in May each year. We look forward to welcoming you to Milgate.
